These apply to everyone using Microcity. Sellers are also bound by the seller agreement.

Microcity is in development and is not yet open to the public. This page describes how the platform works today and will be reviewed by a solicitor before launch.

1. What Microcity is

Microcity is a marketplace. When you buy something, the contract is between you and the seller — we are not the seller and we do not own the goods. What we do is run the place: we check listings, take the payment, hold the money until the item has arrived, and decide cases when a buyer and a seller cannot agree.

That is not a disclaimer designed to leave you stranded. It sets out who owes you what: the seller owes you the item, and we owe you a working marketplace and a fair decision if it goes wrong.

2. Your account

You must be 18 or over to hold an account. Keep your password to yourself, use one you do not use anywhere else, and tell us if you think someone else has been in your account. One person, one account — a second account made to get round a suspension will be closed along with the first.

3. Buying

Prices are set by sellers and shown in pounds sterling including VAT where the seller is VAT registered. Your order is accepted when we take the payment and send the confirmation.

Occasionally something sells twice in the same few seconds. If we cannot fulfil an order we refund it in full, immediately, and tell you why. We do not substitute a different item.

Your rights depend on whether the seller is a business or a private individual, and every listing says which. What that means.

4. Payment

Card payments are handled by Stripe. Card details go directly to them and never reach our servers — we see the brand and the last four digits and nothing more. There is no buyer fee: what you see at checkout is what leaves your account.

5. Vehicle adverts

Whole vehicles are advertised, not sold, through Microcity. There is no checkout, we take no money and hold no funds, so none of the buyer protection that covers a posted parcel applies. See the vehicle in person, check the V5C matches the seller, and run a history check before you pay anyone anything.

6. What you may not do

Scrape the site, or copy listings and photographs for use elsewhere
Interfere with the site, or try to reach parts of it that are not yours
Post anything unlawful, abusive or misleading, including fake reviews
Use the site to arrange a sale off-platform

7. Content you post

Listings, photographs and reviews stay yours. By posting them you give us permission to display them on the site and in the search results and comparison feeds that bring buyers to it. If you take a listing down we stop showing it, though it may persist for a while in search engines we do not control.

8. Where our responsibility ends

We are responsible for running the marketplace properly and for handling your money correctly. We are not responsible for the quality, safety or legality of items sold by third-party sellers, beyond the screening and the case process we describe elsewhere on this site.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else which cannot lawfully be limited. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected by anything on this page.

9. Complaints

Write to help@microcity.co.uk. We aim to answer within two working days and to resolve within ten. If you are not satisfied you may take the matter to an alternative dispute resolution provider or to court; using our process first does not remove that right.

10. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may bring proceedings in your own courts.
